Student Left Package With Bomb Threat On Teacher's Desk: Police
A 15-year-old at Potomac High School was arrested after leaving a package with a bomb threat on a teacher's desk, authorities said.

DUMFRIES, VA — A student left a bomb threat and a package on a teacher's desk at Potomac High School on Thursday, the Prince William County Police Department said.
The student, a 15-year-old boy, was arrested on Friday. He is charged with one count of threats to bomb and taken to the Prince William County Juvenile Detention Center. Authorities have not identified the student by name due to a Virginia law that protects the identity of minors accused of crimes.
No injuries were reported as a result of the threat. Authorities said the package did not contain a bomb.

Authorities said the student left the package on the teacher's desk on Thursday. On Friday, the teacher noticed the wrapped package had a note that implied the package had a bomb in it, according to the police report.
The teacher reported the package to school security and the school resource officer. An explosive disposal team from Virginia State Police came to the school along with a police K-9. The investigators determined that the package did not have a bomb and there was no threat to the school.

Staff members at the school worked with the school resource officer to identify the student who left the package and the threat. He was then arrested and criminally charged.
