Suspect Arrested In Fatal Shooting Of Woodbridge Man: Police

According to police, the suspect is accused of shooting and killing 45-year-old Stonnie Ray Chavis during an argument.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Prince William County Police Thursday arrested a suspect in connection to a fatal shooting that happened in the 1300 block of E Street Monday. Calvin Jerome Wood II, 30, of no fixed address, is now facing charges of murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony for his role in the killing of 45-year-old Stonnie Ray Chavis, police said.

Police responded to the E Street residence just before 10 p.m. Sept. 23 to investigate the shooting. When they arrived, they found Chavis inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died.

Police said Chavis and Wood were involved in a verbal argument when Chavis was shot.

Wood was located and arrested without incident Thursday at an apartment in the 14900 block of Potomac Heights Place. He currently is being held without bond, and his first court date is scheduled Dec. 11.
