Teen Accused of 65-Cent Milk Carton Theft Headed to Court: Report
Ryan Turk of Woodbridge says he picked up a milk that went with his meal, school disagrees.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — The family of a 14-year-old student accused of stealing a 65-cent carton of milk last school year at Graham Park Middle School has agreed to forgo routine school discipline and instead head to court, according to a report.
A Prince William County judge set a trial date in November for the teen, according to a Washington Post report Friday. Officials with Prince William County Public Schools also claim the student was disruptive when confronted by a school resource officer.
When he didn't cooperate, he was charged with disorderly conduct and petit larceny.

Ryan Turk and his mother, Shamise Turk, went public with his case in May, telling local media that he was on the county's free meal program and forgot to grab his milk when going through the meal line. When he went back to the line, school officials say he cut in line and then allegedly tried to conceal the milk.
His mother disputes that account, and says that's why the family is willing to go to court to make her son's case.

"I'm angry, I'm frustrated, I'm mad. It just went too far," Shamise Turk told WJLA in May. "He was entitled to that milk from the beginning."
