Tickets Still Available for VRE's Firecracker Special
Commuter railroad will take riders to see the Fourth of July fireworks in D.C.

Sales close today for the Firecracker Special, a Virginia Railway Express train scheduled to run on the Fourth of July that will carry riders who want to see the fireworks on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
The Firecracker Special will run on both the Fredericksburg and Manassas lines to Union Station downtown. Trains will roll north on Saturday afternoon and return south about an hour after the fireworks end.

VRE says tickets are no longer available for purchase online. But you can buy tickets over the phone at 703-684-1001 or at VRE’s headquarters at 1500 King St., Suite 202, in Alexandria. Tickets are $10 each and non-refundable.
The fireworks begin at 9:10 p.m. Saturday. VRE says the trains will drop off passengers at Union Station between 5:30 and 6 p.m., leaving plenty of time for the 20 to 25 minute walk to the National Mall.
