Timely Knock On Door Helps Woodbridge Family Escape Fire
Blaze nearly destroys single-family house, says Prince William fire department.

Alerted by a neighbor, a Woodbridge family escaped a fire Sunday night that heavily damaged their home, according to the Prince William County Fire & Rescue Department.
The neighbor spotted the fire and knocked on the door to warn the occupants, three adults and a child, who safely evacuated the single-family house in the 13000 block of Nassau Drive, the fire department said. There were no injuries reported in the blaze, but preliminary damage to the structure is estimated at $187,000.

The Red Cross was called to assist the family, and a county building inspector has determined that the home is uninhabitable.
Fire and rescue crews were dispatched to the blaze at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, the fire department said. Upon arrival, they found flames on the rear deck of the home that extended up into the attic.

The firefighters attacked and extinguished the blaze as they checked for further extension of the flames throughout the home; none was found. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the county Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire department said.
