According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), I-95 lanes will begin closing at 9 p.m. each night, and there will be intermittent full closures of I-95 after midnight, lasting between 20 to 30 minutes. All lanes will reopen by 4 a.m. the next morning. In the event of inclement weather, work would take place on Wednesday night.

The closures are needed for crews to erect a new overhead sign. This work is part of the 95 Shoulder Improvement Project, which includes new auxiliary lanes and widened safety shoulders on a seven-mile stretch of I-95 between Dumfries Road (Route 234) and the Prince William Parkway. New guardrails and lighting are being added as well.
