Uber Driver Carjacked At Gunpoint In Dale City: Police

Three men carjacked an Uber driver at gunpoint on Sunday morning in Dale City while the driver was waiting on a customer, police said.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Three men carjacked an Uber driver in Dale City on Sunday morning while he was waiting for a rider, the Prince William County Police Department said. One of the carjackers was armed.

The Uber driver did not report any injuries, according to authorities.

The police department did not provide a detailed description of the carjackers, as they were all wearing masks.

The robbery occurred around 3 a.m. on Sunday in the 15000 block of Cardin Place. The Uber driver told police officers that he had stopped in the area for a fare. Before the rider could get into the driver's SUV, a masked man with a gun opened the driver's door, authorities said.

The armed man demanded the victim's SUV. When the driver exited the SUV, he saw two more masked men. He then ran away, the police deparmtent reported.

The victim eventually flagged down another Uber driver who gave him a ride and helped him contact the police department. The carjackers had already driven away in the victim's SUV, investigators said.

The victim reported that his vehicle, an iPad and shoes were stolen. Authorities described the victim's SUV as a 2021 blue Nissan Kicks with Virginia license plate number TZD8744.
