Vehicle Identified In Fatal Triangle Hit-And-Run: Police

Investigators have a description of the vehicle being driven in the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian Nov. 29 in Triangle: PWC Police.

TRIANGLE, VA — Investigators have a description of the vehicle being driven in the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian Nov. 29 in the 18800 block of Fuller Heights, according to Prince William County Police. It's described as light-colored 2001 or 2004 Ford Escape with damage to a headlight and a hood-mounted bug deflector. Anyone with information is urged to call investigator Cruz Reyes at 703-792-4443.

Killed in the crash was Robert James Gerner, 55, of Triangle. He's suspected of being under the influence of alcohol when he was struck. Police went to the scene around 8:45 p.m. and found Gerner lying in the road with life-threatening injuries. He was flown to an area hospital and later died.

The victim, who was not in a crosswalk, was trying to cross the westbound lane of Fuller Heights Road when he was head by a vehicle headed east. The vehicle didn't stop after the crash.
