Victim Identified in Prince William County's First 2017 Homicide: Police

Alexander Sosa Rivas, 21, of Fairfax, was found dead last Thursday along the Potomac River, according to Prince William County Police.

DUMFRIES, VA — The body of a man found dead Thursday along the banks of the Potomac River in the 1500 block of Cherry Hills Road has been identified as Alexander Sosa Rivas, 21, of Fairfax, according to Prince William County Police.

Rivas is the county's first reported homicide of 2017.

Police ruled it a murder following an autopsy Friday. He appeared to have blunt trauma to his body.
