Wanted Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 2 Girls In Woodbridge: Cops

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Police are looking for a Stafford man who is accused of sexually assaulting two girls in Woodbridge.

Police identified the man as 34-year-old William Aurelio Romero Chavez, who lives on Clara Street in Stafford. Romero Chavez is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery.

If convicted of both charges, Romero Chavez could face up to 40 years in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.

Authorities have been unable to find him. Police described Romero Chavez as a Hispanic man with brown eyes and brown hair. He is about 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 245 pounds.

On Sept. 6, detectives with Prince William County's special victims bureau began investigating a sexual assault that occurred at a home in Woodbridge between March 2018 and July 2019. As they investigated, detectives learned that the suspect assaulted another girl in the same timeframe.

Both victims already knew Romero Chavez and recently reported the assaults to family members.

Authorities obtained warrants for Romero Chavez's arrest on Tuesday, but they have been unable to locate him.
