Weather Alert: Flood Watch for Region as Heavy Rain Approaches

Dangerous storm system will bring a chance of thunderstorms on Monday.

Like the weekend, the beautiful weather couldn’t last forever.

A flood watch will be in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday until 10 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Moderate to locally heavy rain is expected across the region this afternoon and into tonight, with totals around one and a half inches expected.

“Expect small streams and creeks to rise, possibly overflowing their banks,” according to the NWS statement. “In addition, flooding may occur in low-lying and poor drainage areas.”

Residents are encouraged to continue to monitor the forecast.
