The Capital Weather Gang forecasts a 70 percent chance of a “wintry mix” Friday morning for the Washington metro area, “with a minor accumulation on grass a distinct possibility.”

“Early-to-mid morning temperatures in the low-to-mid 30s should make it difficult for any snow to accumulate on paved surfaces, but not impossible. Best chance of picking up a slushy coating on roads would be north and west of D.C.,” the Gang says.

The Weather Channel is predicting a 100 percent chance of a rain/snow mix for the entire Northern Virginia area, starting out with possible sleet.

Temperatures are expected to be hovering near freezing Friday morning in the Washington area, with temperatures getting up to 39 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
