Woman Robbed In Elementary School Parking Lot In Woodbridge: Police

A man with a knife robbed a woman as she walked to her vehicle in the Kyle Wilson Elementary School parking lot on Tuesday, police said.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A woman was robbed at knifepoint while walking to her vehicle at Kyle Wilson Elementary School in Woodbridge on Tuesday evening, the Prince William County Police Department said.

The victim was not injured in the robbery, authorities said.

Investigators have not located the robber yet. The police department described the man as a Hispanic male who is about 5 feet, 3 inches tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a shirt over his face, black pants, and a grey shirt.

The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday as the victim walked through the parking lot of Kyle Wilson Elementary School. The victim, a 47-year-old woman, said a man with a knife approached her.

The man pushed the victim down, got into her vehicle, and tried to drive away, according to the police report.

"When the victim refused to let the suspect leave, the suspect grabbed the victim’s backpack and fled on foot," the police department said.

A police K-9 and a helicopter searched for the robber, but they could not find him.

During the investigation, investigators learned that the man had already unsuccessfully tried to get into the victim's vehicle before she approached. When he failed, he waited behind the vehicle for her.
