WOODBRIDGE, VA — A woman was shot and killed in Woodbridge on Friday morning, according to a report from the Prince William County Police Department. Police officers said they found the woman in the wooded area near the 13900 block of Jefferson Davis Highway.

Authorities have not publicly identified the victim yet. The police department only described her as "an adult female."

Homicide detectives have not yet identified a suspect in the shooting. Investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting, according to the police report.

Police officers learned of the shooting around 4:30 a.m. on Friday. At that time, officers responded to the 13900 block of Jefferson Davis Highway.

When they arrived on the scene, the officers found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds in the nearby wooded area, according to the police report. Rescue personnel responded; they pronounced the woman as dead at the scene.

Authorities did not find any other victims or property damage that could have been caused by the shooting. The police department also noted that it did not receive any other calls reporting the shooting on Friday morning.
