WOODBRIDGE, VA — A Woodbridge couple was killed Sunday when their car was struck head-on by a car going the wrong way, causing a four-vehicle crash, police say.
The accident also sent the driver who investigators believe was going the wrong way to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, Prince William County police said Monday.
According to a police news release, the crash happened about 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of Cardinal Drive and Whips Run Drove in Woodbridge. The couple killed were identified as the driver and passenger of a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe — Amanda Chaloupka, 40, and Patrick Michael Chaloupka, 42, both of Woodbridge.

Police say the driver of a 2015 Hyundai Genesis — a 27-year-old woman from Woodbridge who has not been identified — was traveling the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of Cardinal Drive, approaching Whips Run Drive. The Genesis crashed head-on with the couple's eastbound SUV.
The force of the crash caused the Santa Fe to collide with a 2025 GMC Hummer that was also eastbound on Cardinal Drive, a police news release said. Debris from the crash struck an unoccupied 2024 Honda Accord parked in a nearby driveway on Whips Run Drive.
