King, Torian, Guzman Re-Elected As Delegates In Woodbridge

Delegates King, Torian, and Guzman were re-elected to represent Woodbridge in the Virginia House of Delegates in Tuesday's election.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Incumbent delegates Candi King, Luke Torian, and Elizabeth Guzman were all re-elected to represent the Woodbridge area in the Virginia House of Delegates, according

This year, Woodbridge's ballot included state races for Virginia governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, and several races in the Virginia House of Delegates.

Incumbent delegates Candi King, Elizabeth Guzman, and Luke Torian faced Republican challengers in the 2nd, 31st, and 52nd district, respectively. Democratic nominee Briana Sewell will square off against Republican challenger Tim Cox for the 51st district seat that is currently held by Del. Hala Ayala, who is running for lieutenant governor.

Republican nominees for Woodbridge seats in the Virginia House of Delegates included Gina Ciarcia in the 2nd district, Ben Baldwin in the 31st district, Tim Cox in the 51st district, and Maria Martin in the 52nd district.

In the 2nd district, Del. King was re-elected, according to the AP. Unofficial results showed King with 59 percent of the votes with 25 of 27 precincts reporting.

Del. Guzman was also re-eleceted in the 31st district, according to the AP. Guzman held 54 percent of votes with 28 of 30 precincts reporting, according to unofficial results.

Briana Sewell was elected to the 51st district seat currently held by Hala Ayala. Maldonado was declared a winner by the AP; she held 55 percent of the vote with all but two precincts reporting, according to unofficial results.

In the 52nd district, incumbent Del. Luke Torian secured his re-election bid, according to the AP. Torian secured 71 percent of the votes with 22 of 23 precincts reporting, according to unofficial results.

Reproductive rights were just one of the issues that voters considered in Tuesday's elections. James Pryor, a college student originally from Woodbridge, said concerns about reproductive rights encouraged him and his girlfriend to vote.

"We're both voting because of the abortion laws," Pryor said on Tuesday. "We're afraid they're going to get overturned like they did in Texas."

Angela Soto, a voter from Dale City, shared similar sentiments. "No man should be telling a woman what to do with her body," Soto said. Soto also said she voted for candidates who planned to raise the raise the minimum wage.
