Woodbridge Heavy House Fire Displaces 5 Residents

Residents escaped a heavy fire that started on a deck and was spreading to the home in Woodbridge, according to the fire department.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Five people were displaced after a heavy fire at a Woodbridge home Wednesday morning, according to Prince William County Fire and Rescue. There were no injuries.

Firefighters responded to the heavy fire around 4 a.m. Wednesday in the 14000 block of Carolina Street. Units found heavy fire and smoke coming from the back with a deck fully engulfed in flames and spreading to the home. Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control.

All of the residents safely escaped before the fire department arrived. One of the residents woke up to the noise of the fire outside the home.

The fire caused extensive damage to the home and displaced four adults and one child. The Red Cross responded to assist the residents.

According to the fire marshal's office, the cause of the fire was unattended cooking on appliances on the rear deck.
