Woodbridge Man Arrested After Strangling Woman: Police

The incident happened at the County Center Crossing Apartments in Woodbridge.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A Woodbridge man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly strangled a woman during a domestic dispute. According to Prince William police, Hayward Gregory Edwards, 68, was arrested and held without bond after strangling a female acquaintance at the County Center Crossing Apartments in Woodbridge.

Police were called to the apartments in the 7000 block of Lakota Drive on Nov. 17. When they arrived, the victim, identified as a 27-year-old woman, said she and the suspect were involved in a verbal altercation when the suspect allegedly grabbed her throat.

Eventually, the victim and the suspect separated and the victim called police. The victim suffered minor injuries, police said.

Edwards was arrested on a charge of strangulation. His court date is scheduled for Dec. 16.
