Woodbridge Man Charged In Sex Assault Was Retired Police: Report

A man who was reportedly a policeman in D.C. has been charged with multiple sex offenses in Woodbridge that officials say involved a girl.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A Woodbridge man is charged with multiple sex offenses following what police said was an assault on an underage girl. He is reportedly a retired police officer in Washington, D.C.

John Pleasant Johnson, 55, of Woodbridge, has been charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery, three counts of indecent liberties, three counts of forcible sodomy and two counts of object sexual penetration, according to the Prince William Police Department.

Police said the victim was 12 to 14 years old during the sexual assaults, which occurred at a home in Woodbridge between May 2018 and April 2020.

Johnson was an acquaintance, according to authorities, who said the girl identified him as her assailant.

He was also a detective who retired from the Metropolitan Police Department after working there from 1987 to 2018, according to WJLA, which reported he returned a month later as a senior police officer.

At a bail review Thursday, the judge ordered Johnson held without bail until June 15, which is the data of his next scheduled hearing, the Washington Post reported. According to the newspaper, he left his post as a senior police officer in 2019.
