Woodbridge Man Stabbed During Workplace Dispute In Manassas Park, Flown To Hospital: Cops

A Woodbridge man was hospitalized after he was stabbed on Thursday during an argument with a coworker, according to Manassas Park police.

MANASSAS PARK, VA — A 22-year-old Woodbridge man was stabbed in Manassas Park on Thursday, according to a report from the City of Manassas Park Police Department. He was flown to a hospital where he underwent surgery for "serious injuries," police said.

The suspect, who authorities identified as a 20-year-old man from Waldorf, Maryland, was arrested on Thursday. The suspect, Richard Toland, was charged with one count of malicious wounding.

The incident was first reported to authorities as a shooting. Manassas Park police officers responded to the incident in the 600 block of Palisades Circle at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday to investigate.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found the victim laying in the street with a stab wound to the lower abdomen, according to the police report.

Bystanders in the area directed officers to the suspect, who was walking in the area. Authorities claimed they recovered a knife and a firearm from the scene, but they did not say whether any shots were fired.

The police department said the stabbing occurred after an argument between two coworkers at a moving company. After the stabbing, an off-duty paramedic provided first aid to the victim while waiting for emergency personnel to arrive on the scene.

Officers from the Prince William County Police Department also responded to aid in the investigation.
