WOODBRIDGE, VA — A Woodbridge man was arrested on Wednesday after authorities accused him of wrapping his arm around a woman's neck before leaving in her vehicle and making purchases with her credit card.

The victim, a 36-year-old woman, reported minor injuries.

The Prince William County Police Department identified the man as 36-year-old Jesus Robert Santana Barrios. He is charged with strangulation, unauthorized use of vehicle, credit card theft, and credit card fraud.

His court date is pending and his bond is currently listed as unavailable.

If convicted of all charges, Santana Barrios could face up to 27 years in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.

The incident occurred on Tuesday but wasn't reported to the police department until Wednesday morning. The victim told police that she had an argument with Santana Barrios that escalated when he pushed her onto the ground.

While the victim was on the ground, Santana Berrios wrapped his arm around her neck, according to the police report. He eventually left the area in the victim's vehicle, police said.

On Wednesday morning, police officers learned that Santana Berrios also took the victim's credit card and made unauthorized purchases. He returned the vehicle to the victim's home on Wednesday, authorities said.

Police officers took Santana Berrios into custody on Wednesday evening.
