Woodbridge Mobile Home Fire Leaves 8 People Homeless

The Fire Marshal's Office determined the use of extension cords and an electrical space heat heater caused the fire.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Eight people were left homeless in Woodbridge after a fire at a mobile home park Tuesday morning caused enough damage to make two mobile homes uninhabitable, according to the Prince William County Fire & Rescue System. Seven adults and one child were displaced and are being helped by the American Red Cross.

Fire units were dispatched to the Elm Farm Mobile Home Park in the 3000 block of Elm Farm Road, near the Prince William Parkway, at 7:23 a.m. on Dec. 31 for a reported structure fire. On arrival, crews noticed one mobile home on fire that was spreading to two other nearby homes. One of the homes was not designated unsafe to occupy.

The Fire Marshal's Office has determined the cause of the fire to be an accident, involving the use of extension cords and an electrical space heater.
