Woodbridge Recording Studio Shooter Convicted Of Murder: Authorities
A man convicted of shooting a victim at a Woodbridge recording studio in 2019 was sentenced to 40 years in prison, authorities announced.
WOODBRIDGE, VA — The man accused of shooting a victim multiple times at a Woodbridge recording studio was convicted of murder last week. On Wednesday, prosecutors announced that the shooter received a 40-year sentence.
The victim, 32-year-old Tristan Sellers, was pronounced dead at the DMV Recording studio in Woodbridge on Nov. 18, 2019. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
In their investigation, detectives identified 47-year-old Cinquan Louis Blakney of Washington, D.C. Last week, Blakney pleaded no contest to a second degree murder charge.

Blakney was sentenced to 40 years in prison, though half the sentence will be suspended. Blakney will likely spend about 20 years in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release, prosecutors said.
"Violent crime has no place in our community and will be prosecuted vigorously," Prince William County Commonwealth's Attorney Amy Ashworth said in a statement. "We express our deepest condolences to the victim’s family."

Investigators said Sellers and Blakney argued about the production of a song before the shooting. Blakney shot Sellers nine times, according to the office of the commonwealth's attorney. Sellers was unarmed.
After an investigation, U.S. marshals arrested Blakney in Maryland.
