World Police & Fire Games To Begin Friday

More than 150 Prince William County first responders – police officers, firefighters/EMTs and sheriff’s deputies – will participate in the 2015 World Police and Fire Games.

Events begin on Friday and continue through Sunday, July 5, at venues throughout the Washington metropolitan area – including Prince William County. All events are free and open to the public.

Opening ceremonies will take place at 6 p.m. Friday at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium (2400 E. Capitol St. SE, Washington, D.C.), and closing ceremonies will take place at 6 p.m. July 5 at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts (1635 Trap Road, Vienna).

The main activities of the games (medal ceremonies, vendors, etc.) will occur at the Athlete’s Village at the Reston Town Center (11900 Market St., Reston).

Five events will be held in the greater Prince William region, including:

  • Ice hockey - June 27 to July 1 at the Prince William Ice Center (5180 Dale Blvd., Dale City);
  • Golf - June 29 to July 1 at Evergreen Country Club (15900 State Route 2010, Haymarket);
  • Swimming - June 30 to July 2 at George Mason Unversity’s aquatic and fitness center in Fairfax;
  • Cycling - July 1-2 at Prince William Forest Park (18100 Park Headquarters Road, Triangle); and
  • Small-bore shooting - July 2-3 at Fairfax Rod & Gun Club (7039 Signal Hill Road, Manassas).
