Cruise Ship Passenger Falls From 8th Deck Near Cape Flattery
The U.S. Coast Guard said a woman reported she was awoken around 4:30 a.m. by a breeze coming from the balcony door being open.

CAPE FLATTERY, WA — The U.S. Coast Guard is responding to a cruise ship near Cape Flattery after passenger fell from an 8th deck balcony. A woman aboard the Seven Seas Mariner said she was awoken around 4 a.m. Tuesday by a breeze coming from the balcony door being open, the U.S. Coast Guard said in a tweet. That was the last time she saw her husband, officials said.
The cruise ship captain confirmed that video showed the 73-year-old man fell around 4:15 a.m. Officials initially said he jumped.
It happened near the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Further details, including the man's identity, wasn't immediately released.

According to CruiseCritic.com, Regent's Seven Seas Mariner is an older ship by industry standards and carries about 700 passengers. It underwent "major and minor refurbishments" over the years, including a multi-million dollar makeover this year.
Regent, based in Miami, has five ships in its fleet and is owned by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.
