Woman Shot By Deputies After High Speed Chase In Tacoma
Investigators say someone in the vehicle shot at deputies several times during the pursuit.

TACOMA, WA — Pierce County deputies shot a woman after a high-speed chase through Tacoma early Friday morning. Police say it all began when a Nissan Maxima sped off from a WSP traffic stop around 2:30 a.m. A deputy tried to stop the car again, at East 72nd Street and McKinley Avenue, then began a pursuit when the driver did not stop.
According to investigators, the driver reached high speeds, wove in and out of opposing lanes and a passenger shot at deputies several times during the chase. Eventually, deputies eventually stopped the car with a P.I.T. maneuver. It came to an end in the area of 176th Street and 63rd Avenue East.
Deputies shot the woman driving the car and she was taken to the hospital. The man in the passenger's seat is uninjured and was arrested at the scene. No deputies were injured. Those involved in the shooting are now on paid administrative leave, per standard policy. Tacoma Police will handle the investigation.
