WSDOT Works To Clear Logjam Under Everett's Trestle Bridge
High and fast waters Tuesday brought a big mess down the Snohomish River.

EVERETT, WA — An eastbound lane will be closed through Thursday morning's commute as road crews work to clear a logjam under the US-2 trestle, according to WSDOT. Tuesday's floodwaters brought a large amount of debris down the river, and much of it got snagged on the bridge piers. The eastbound closure has allowed transportation crews to bring in a crane to lift some of the larger debris, as boats tow away the more difficult-to-reach items. Before the lane can reopen, WSDOT will also verify no permanent damage has been done to the bridge. There is no official estimate for when the work will be complete.
Here's a look at the amount of debris we've been clearing from under the US 2 trestle. We've been using a crane above and boats below to clear logs and debris from around the bridge piers. It's important we clear it quickly to ensure there is no damage to the bridge piers. pic.twitter.com/ERJsVXl6M7

Along with the big rigs on top of the trestle boats are attacking the jam from below by pulling the logs out from where the machinery can’t reach. It’s good to know that just yanking on something really hard works to clear log jams as well. #KOMOnews pic.twitter.com/lyeC8MxWMc
