1. 2 new BIFD apparatuses going into service in the coming weeks (bainbridgereview.com) — Two new Bainbridge Island Fire Department vehicles are about to enter service, including a brand-new type three engine whose station assignment is still being finalized. One engine will be based at Station 23 on Phelps Road, and both will get public push‑in ceremonies. With medical calls making up most of BIFD’s workload, the department says these apparatuses are expected to serve the island for 20–25 years.

2. Bainbridge kids swap mission trips in cross-state partnership (kitsapsun.com) — Bainbridge Island teens at Rolling Bay Presbyterian are hosting Spokane youth this July for a weeklong mission focused on environmental stewardship and local service. Plans include a beach day with tide pool exploration and cleanup, a talk by island scientist Deb Rudnick, farm harvesting for Helpline House and Fishline, and volunteering with West Sound Wildlife Shelter. Leaders hope to build a long-term cross-state partnership that keeps students engaged in quiet, meaningful service.

3. Multiple burn bans in effect for western WA amid heat advisory (fox13seattle.com) — Bainbridge Island is now under a Stage 1 burn ban, meaning outdoor burning of yard waste, burn barrels and weed torches is off-limits while wildfire risk is high. You can still grill and have small recreational fires if you follow strict safety rules on pit construction, distance from buildings, wind limits and fully extinguishing coals. Officials haven’t set an end date, tying the ban to summer weather.
