Bellevue Closes Enatai Beach Swimming Area Due To Bacteria

Enatai Beach Park is now the second beach to have its swimming area shut down over bacteria concerns.

BELLEVUE, WA — The City of Bellevue has announced the closure of the swimming area at Enatai Beach Park after high bacteria levels were found in the water there.

The move comes just over a week after the city closed the Newcastle Beach swimming area for a similar reason. In both cases, the parks themselves remain open, but swimmers are not allowed into the water.

City officials say closures come at the direction of King County public health workers who found high levels of bacteria and cyanotoxin at 17 beaches along Lake Washington. Both will be reopened if a new round of testing finds that the bacteria counts have shrunk to an acceptable level.
