Rash Of Necklace Robberies Hits Bellevue, Redmond

Women pedestrians wearing expensive jewelry have been targets, Bellevue police are reporting.

BELLEVUE, WA - Seven women have recently had necklaces ripped from their necks in public in Bellevue and Redmond, police say. The incidents all happened between Aug. 31 and Sept. 31; six of the robberies occurred in Bellevue and one in Redmond.

The robbers are targeting South Asian and East Indian women, police say. In each case, victims were approached by at least two men. In one case, the two men worked as a team to distract a woman before stealing her jewelry.

The suspects are described as between the ages of 20 and 35 and thin; one of the men is either bald or has a shaved head.
