• EWU trustees vote unanimously to end gender studies, urban planning and 7 other majors (spokesman.com) — An Eastern Washington University alum who now serves as Black Diamond’s city planner is speaking out as EWU trustees vote to eliminate nine majors, including urban and regional planning and gender, women’s and sexuality studies. Despite strong faculty and community testimony about the programs’ value for Washington cities, leaders cited low enrollment and budget pressures in unanimously approving the cuts, while promising teach-out plans for current students.
