County engineers say the design should improve safety, cut wait times, and cost less than a traffic signal, while some nearby residents worry about access from Blaine Road during peak traffic. Officials also highlight environmental benefits and offer resources to help drivers navigate roundabouts confidently. 
• Nooksack Valley opens conference play with blowout win over Blaine (cascadiadaily.com) — Blaine High School’s football team fell 46–10 on the road to Nooksack Valley in its 1A Northwest Conference opener, despite a late touchdown and field goal. The Borderites now sit at 2–3 overall and will try to rebound at home against Meridian next Friday, giving Blaine fans another chance to pack the stands and support their team.
