• Pacific NorthWest Allied Grocery Stores October Contract Action Team Meetings — UFCW 3000 (ufcw3000.org) — Union grocery workers and supporters in Burien can join a Pacific NorthWest Allied Grocery Stores contract action team meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 4 p.m. at Round Table Pizza on 1st Ave South. Similar meetings are happening across Washington that week, giving members a chance to ask questions, connect with reps, and prepare for upcoming contract talks. 
• WA minimum wage will rise to $17.73 an hour in 2027 (seattleweekly.com) — Starting Jan. 1, 2027, Washington's minimum wage will rise to $17.73 an hour, which also boosts the salary threshold for overtime-exempt workers. Burien is among the cities already paying above the state minimum, but local workers and employers will still feel the impact of higher youth wages and new overtime rules, especially at larger businesses.
