• Cowlitz County high school graduations begin Friday (tri-cityherald.com) — Castle Rock families can mark their calendars now: Castle Rock High School’s graduation is set for 7 p.m. on June 12 at Rocket Stadium. The countywide schedule also includes ceremonies this Friday and Saturday for schools in Kalama, Woodland, Longview, Toutle Lake, and Rainier, giving local residents several chances to celebrate the Class of 2026. 
• Deer vs. Car Crash on I-5 North of Castle Rock—Classic Hits 100.7 KLOG News (klog.com) — An evening crash on southbound I-5 just north of Castle Rock sent a Portland driver to the hospital after her SUV struck a deer in the roadway. State troopers say the collision happened near milepost 52 around 9:49 p.m. Monday, with no drugs or alcohol involved and the driver properly wearing a seatbelt.
• Investigation ongoing into Nippon Dynawave chemical spill that killed 11 (portlandtribune.com) — Two Castle Rock residents were among 11 people killed in last week’s massive chemical spill at the Nippon Dynawave paper mill in Longview, which also injured seven others. Officials say drinking water remains safe, but thousands of fish died as crews flushed contaminated ditches into the Columbia River. A state investigation is underway to determine what caused the tank rupture and whether safety violations occurred.
