• Ecology to host hearing on Sabey Data Center air permit (tri-cityherald.com) — If you live or work near the Sabey Data Center in East Wenatchee, you’ll soon have a chance to weigh in on its plan to add more diesel generators. Ecology will hold an online air‑quality permit hearing Aug. 18 and is taking public comments through Aug. 24 on projected pollution increases and health impacts. 
• East Wenatchee man injured in fiery Highway 97 crash near Ellensburg (tri-cityherald.com) — An East Wenatchee man was hurt when his Subaru left Highway 97 near Ellensburg, struck a tree and caught fire, briefly closing the road. He was taken to Confluence Health Hospital and faces a second‑degree negligent driving charge, though investigators say drugs and alcohol were not factors in the Sunday crash.
• Swauk Creek Fire reaches 81% containment (leavenworthecho.com) — Fire crews have largely corralled the 29-acre Swauk Creek Fire near Blewett Pass, but it began with a Highway 97 crash involving an 18-year-old from East Wenatchee whose car hit a tree and sparked the blaze. US‑97 remains open with delays, and Liberty-area residents still face low- to mid-level evacuation advisories while mop-up continues.
