1. SBA opens East Wenatchee center to help Chelan Hills Fire survivors apply for loans (ncw.news) — If you were affected by the Chelan Hills Fire, you can now get in-person help applying for federal disaster loans at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in East Wenatchee, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. SBA staff will walk residents, businesses, and nonprofits through low-interest loan options for property damage and economic injury, with deadlines running into late 2026 and 2027.
   

2. 1,043 calls to police and deputies across Chelan and Douglas counties, Sept. 25–Oct. 1 (ncw.news) — East Wenatchee police handled 145 calls last week, including thefts, burglaries, drug activity, and several crashes, while fire crews responded to a structure fire and possible structure fire in town. Across Chelan and Douglas counties, agencies logged 1,043 calls, giving residents a clear snapshot of crime, emergencies, and safety issues in and around East Wenatchee.
   

3. Eastmont Lanes temporarily closed after arcade fire (tri-cityherald.com) — Eastmont Lanes in East Wenatchee is temporarily closed after an early-morning arcade fire on Friday, Oct. 2, which was controlled by the building’s sprinkler system. Firefighters contained damage to the arcade area, but smoke and water cleanup is needed before reopening. The owners hope to reopen quickly, and report that the bowling lanes themselves were not damaged.
   

4. Wenatchee Valley tourism hits $441 million as year-round visits grow (ncwbusiness.com) — Tourism brought an estimated $441 million to Wenatchee and East Wenatchee in 2025, with strong hotel demand and higher room rates boosting local tax revenues. East Wenatchee’s lodging taxes help fund Visit Wenatchee’s marketing, which targets visitors for outdoor recreation, sports, conventions, and cultural attractions. Those tourism dollars support city services and the broader valley economy.
   

5. We will always love her (livinglutheran.org) — An East Wenatchee congregation, Celebration Lutheran Church, joined churches nationwide in honoring Dolly Parton’s life and faith, with Pastor Sarah Toney using her Aug. 30 sermon to highlight Parton as a model of public, inclusive Christian love. The message emphasized seeing people in pain as whole, dignified individuals and treating their struggles as our own to respond to with grace.
