20 Hurricane Harvey Cats Arriving In Puget Sound Friday

The cats are being flown to Paine Field in Everett and will then go to PAWS in Lynnwood.

LYNNWOOD, WA - An airplane full of 20 cats is arriving Friday in Everett from Hurricane Harvey-ravaged Texas. The cats are part of a larger operation where Texas animal shelters are sending adoptable pets to shelters around the country to make room for pets lost or abandoned during Harvey.

The cats are arriving at Paine Field at 3 p.m. Friday via the Livermore, Calif., nonprofit Wings of Rescue, which airlifts adoptable pets from high-kill shelters or other tenuous situations. After landing, the cats will be taken to PAWS in Lynnwood.

The Friday delivery follows a mission on Wednesday where Wings of Rescue dropped dogs off at Boeing Field in Seattle. Those animals were divided up between PAWS and the Seattle Humane Society in Bellevue.

The first dog from Harvey to be adopted was a six-month old Belgian shepherd named Toby.

PAWS, Wings of Rescue, and Seattle Humane will likely be accepting more Harvey shelter animals in the coming weeks. To apply to be a foster parent or to make a donation, visit the PAWS website.
