Dozens of firefighters fight multiple fires across southwest Snohomish County (lynnwoodtimes.com) — Firefighters recently battled multiple brush fires and a serious house fire near Lake Ballinger in Edmonds, where three residents were displaced but safely escaped. More than 50 firefighters coordinated across southwest Snohomish County, limiting damage to nearby homes and suffering only one minor firefighter injury. The causes of both the brush and house fires remain under investigation.
   

2. Rick Steves buys 103-year-old theater in his Washington state hometown, saves an 'endangered species' (11alive.com) — Rick Steves has purchased the 103-year-old Edmonds Theater on Main Street, aiming to preserve it as a community gathering place rather than a profit engine. He plans cosmetic upgrades and wants the single-screen venue to host local groups and nonprofits, helping protect one of the few remaining independent theaters in the country for Edmonds residents.
   

3. Firefighters to host 9/11 memorial ceremony in Edmonds Sept. 11 (mylynnwoodnews.com) — Edmonds residents are invited to a 9/11 memorial ceremony at 9:11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, at Fallen Firefighter Memorial Park outside Downtown Fire Station 17. The event will feature South County Fire's Honor Guard, Edmonds Mayor Mike Rosen, and others, gathering around a World Trade Center beam to honor victims and first responders 25 years later.
   

4. Emma: The miniature musical boat building a fanbase across the Puget Sound (myedmondsnews.com) — If you've strolled the Edmonds waterfront lately, you may have seen Emma, a three-foot, music-playing model boat delighting onlookers along the shoreline. Created and captained by Edmonds resident and architect Shibly Ahmed, the miniature vessel blends global music, intricate figurines and an immigrant's personal inspiration, turning casual walks by the water into unexpectedly uplifting encounters.
   

5. Edmonds School District students complete Romac Industries internships (myedmondsnews.com) — High school seniors from Edmonds Heights K-12 and Edmonds-Woodway gained real-world engineering and project management experience this summer through internships at Romac Industries. Alongside Mountlake Terrace students, they spent 90 hours each learning 3D scanning, tooling identification, and project coordination, giving Edmonds teens a closer look at technical career paths in modern manufacturing.
