Montalvo's deep ties to Edmonds organizations and Jere's perspective as an international student aim to strengthen the college's role in education, support services, and community life for residents across the Edmonds area.
   

• 49 Outstanding Writing Conferences and Workshops in October 2026 (blogspot.com) — Writers in Edmonds can look forward to the Write on the Sound conference Oct. 2–4, a small, affordable event focused on craft with sessions, workshops, and panels for all levels. It's one of dozens of October conferences nationwide, but this one happens right in town, offering practical guidance on today's writing and publishing world.
   

• First Amtrak Airo passenger trains start Wednesday on Cascades (lynnwoodtimes.com) — New Amtrak Airo trains are debuting on the Cascades route, bringing more seats, cleaner engines, and upgraded amenities to stops including Edmonds. Riders will see better views, free Wi‑Fi, and a revamped café car as two new trainsets begin four daily trips between Seattle, Vancouver, B.C., and Eugene, with more trains arriving through 2027.
