📰 News we're reading
• Former restaurant employee files lawsuit against attacker, Jack in the Box (dailyrecordnews.com) — An Ellensburg fast-food worker has filed a civil lawsuit in Kittitas County Superior Court over a 2024 sexual assault by her manager at the local Jack in the Box, following his criminal conviction and lengthy prison sentence. The suit argues the company failed to properly vet, train, and supervise the manager, and seeks compensation for medical costs, lost wages, and emotional harm.

• Stolen iPads lead to 17-month jail sentence (dailyrecordnews.com) — A man has been sentenced to 17 months in jail for stealing three iPads from the Ellensburg Fred Meyer, after pleading guilty in Kittitas County Superior Court. The case was coordinated with related theft and drug-fueled crime cases in King County, and the judge credited his recent treatment progress while still imposing the recommended sentence.

• Gust G. ‘Gus' Mandelas (columbiabasinherald.com) — Ellensburg residents are invited to honor Gust “Gus” Mandelas, who was born in Ellensburg and whose rosary and funeral Mass will be held this week at Johnston & Williams and St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. The longtime plumber, family man, and devoted dog owner will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the parish hall.
