1. Olympia man accused of theft after overcharging for oven installation (dailyrecordnews.com) — An Ellensburg woman says an installer hired through a cleaning service overcharged her for a stove installation and then ran up several unauthorized charges on her credit card. Kittitas County prosecutors have filed theft and identity theft charges against an Olympia man, who is now the subject of an arrest warrant with preset bail. 
2. Ellensburg man pleads not guilty to illegal gun possession (dailyrecordnews.com) — An Ellensburg man has pleaded not guilty to multiple felony gun charges after deputies seized several untraceable rifles, including a short-barrel AR-15, from his local residence. Prosecutors say his prior felony conviction barred him from having any firearms, and a Kittitas County Superior Court trial is scheduled to begin in December.
3. Washington Archives Month 2026 (wa.gov) — Ellensburg is hosting an Archives and Museum Crawl today as part of Washington Archives Month, giving residents a chance to explore local history collections up close. The statewide celebration continues through October with additional events, including a State Archives tour in Olympia later this month, all encouraging you to discover your own story in the records.
4. Man killed after running onto I-90 in Ellensburg (dailyrecordnews.com) — A fatal early-morning crash on I-90 in Ellensburg left a 27-year-old pedestrian dead after he ran from the median into an eastbound lane and was struck by a semi-truck. The Washington State Patrol is still investigating the circumstances, and the man’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of family.
5. Basin soccer roundup, Sept. 24-30, 2026 (thenewstribune.com) — High school soccer fans will notice Ellensburg mentioned as the site where Quincy’s strong 9-1 squad stumbled in a 4-1 loss on Sept. 29. The roundup tracks how Basin teams like Ephrata, Moses Lake, Othello, Royal, and others wrapped up their final September matches as they push toward state tournament contention.
