Everett PD drone registers first repeat arrest of same suspect (everettpost.com) — Everett police used their drone program to quickly track down a fleeing suspect in South Everett, marking the first time the same person has been arrested twice with drone assistance. Officers also made separate arrests in a North Everett gun incident, a Silver Lake domestic violence case, and car prowls near Everett High School, underscoring a busy week for local law enforcement.
   

2. Everett Animal Shelter reports major progress in Westie recovery efforts (lynnwoodtimes.com) — Everett Animal Shelter has officially taken full custody of 44 abused dogs, allowing staff to ramp up grooming, medical care, and foster coordination right here in Everett. While the Westies remain under legal and medical holds, community donations, grooming volunteers, and hundreds of adoption applications are helping the shelter manage intense care needs as animal‑cruelty charges move forward in Marysville.
   

3. Everett man gets 36-year sentence in murder of landlord (heraldnet.com) — An Everett man has been sentenced to 36½ years in prison for murdering his landlord, whose body was later found in a downtown Everett alley. Prosecutors and the judge described the killing and disposal as particularly cruel, while the defendant continued to claim innocence. The case, tried in Snohomish County Superior Court, deeply affected Lytton’s family and the local community.
   

4. Everett firefighters prevent dumpster fire from spreading to businesses, apartments (kiro7.com) — Everett firefighters quickly stopped a dumpster fire on West Casino Road from spreading into a mixed-use building with businesses and apartments, preventing injuries and more serious damage. Crews credit fast 911 calls and remind residents to prioritize safety, use fire extinguishers only on small, contained fires, and call 911 immediately if flames grow or smoke thickens.
   

5. KXA radio's 'Pink Mitchell' fundraiser nets $2740 for cancer research (everettpost.com) — Everett’s KXA Classic Country morning show just turned “Pink Mitchell Day” into more than $2,700 for cancer research, with co-host Stitch Mitchell dyeing his hair magenta on air. Local businesses, including an Everett salon and CDAS Construction, joined listeners in donating, and contributions to the American Cancer Society are still being accepted through October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
