West Coast water park fans heartbroken to learn $110M project being built 1,500 miles away (nypost.com) — Wild Waves Theme & Water Park in Federal Way is set to close permanently on November 1, ending a longtime regional attraction for local families and thrill-seekers. The news has some Washington residents eyeing a massive new indoor water park planned in Bellevue, Nebraska, and has also sparked calls for a replacement water attraction closer to home.

Sound Transit will add fare gates to busiest light rail stations (knkx.org) — Sound Transit plans to add fare gates at 14 of its busiest light rail stations, including the Federal Way station, to boost fare payment and raise millions in revenue. Installation, expected to begin in 2029, has sparked discussion about balancing revenue needs with access for low-income and youth riders, with promises of easier sign-ups for free and reduced-fare programs.

Federal Way Mirror Athletes of the Week: Decatur (federalwaymirror.com) — Two standout Decatur High School athletes are being recognized this week by the Federal Way Mirror, highlighting local talent on the football field and volleyball court. Man wanted in New Orleans arrested by Seattle SWAT and US Marshals (kiro7.com) — A man wanted in New Orleans for a deadly shooting was arrested Friday in Federal Way, after Seattle’s SWAT team and U.S. Marshals tracked him to the 900 block of SW Campus Drive. Authorities say he was also sought for allegedly shooting at Louisiana deputies in 2015, and credit close cooperation between local and federal agencies for the arrest.
