1. $4.9 million waterfront development in Pierce Co. to 'finally become a reality' (thenewstribune.com) — Gig Harbor has approved a $3.6 million construction contract to finally build a dedicated commercial fishing homeport at Ancich Waterfront Park, with a ribbon-cutting expected in spring 2027. The fully funded $4.9 million project will add moorage for 17 vessels and preserve the city's working waterfront. Here are Pierce Co. food scores for Aug. 10 (thenewstribune.com) — Moctezuma's Mexican Restaurant on Point Fosdick in Gig Harbor received 50 red points in an Aug. 10 health inspection, with issues around cooling, hot holding, and equipment changes that were corrected on site. The broader report also details serious violations at several Pierce County eateries, offering a useful snapshot of current food-safety enforcement.
4. Filmmakers hope their upcoming movie boosts the industry in Washington (gigharbornow.org) — A Gig Harbor producer and a Gig Harbor–raised director are teaming up on a new mystery film that will shoot partly in town this fall.
