Today's riddle: Do you know what the two sides of a circle are? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Murdered Tri-City woman's family offers $5K for information to catch killer (tri-cityherald.com) — Kennewick police are renewing their call for tips in the unsolved 2021 killing of 18-year-old Alyssa Moore, after her family raised a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Investigators say several Tri-Cities homicides from that month remain open, and they're urging anyone who knows something—no matter how small—to contact detectives or submit an anonymous tip online.
2. Future of Tri-Cities Animal Services up for debate after cost, ethics concerns (applevalleynewsnow.com) — Kennewick is weighing major changes to Tri-Cities Animal Services that could affect how stray animals are handled and how much the city pays each year. Along with Pasco and Richland, leaders are debating cheaper control-only, shelter-focused, or hybrid models after community concerns about euthanasia and rising costs, and pet owners want a strong voice in whatever plan is chosen.
3. Bridgerton events take over Tri-Cities. Get your pearls and gloves ready (tri-cityherald.com) — Kennewick readers can look forward to a full slate of Bridgerton-themed events at the Kennewick Library and Arthur E. Fuller Auditorium, including a Regency-style ball and an author talk with creator Julia Quinn. Free books, dance lessons, craft sessions, and lectures on Regency fashion and women's history are planned throughout October and November, with some events requiring advance registration due to limited space.
4. New Benton, Franklin County projects added to 2027 transportation plan, public may weigh in (nbcrightnow.com) — Kennewick residents could see a new Columbia Park bridge and expanded East Columbia Park bike improvements as part of a $116 million, four-year regional transportation plan unveiled this week. The Benton-Franklin Council of Governments' draft includes 50 funded projects across the Tri-Cities, and locals can comment on the 2027–2030 program through September 30, 2026.
5. Kennewick train delay blocks crossings for about four hours (nbcrightnow.com) — Kennewick drivers dealt with major delays yesterday morning after a stalled Burlington Northern Santa Fe train blocked several crossings for about four hours while crews made an unplanned repair on the Columbia River Railway Bridge. Rail traffic was halted as a safety precaution, crossings were shut, and BNSF says trains are now moving again and apologized for the disruption.
