Kent Police Blotter: Aug. 3-17 (kentreporter.com) — Kent’s latest police blotter highlights a busy August 3–17, including major commercial thefts, disturbances at Birch Creek Apartments, a bar assault, a residential burglary caught on camera, and a child’s fall from a third-story window. Officers also handled a missing-person suicide case, fraud involving generators, and several warrant and retail theft arrests around the city.

Kent Police remind drivers to slow down as students head back to school (ilovekent.net) — As Kent students head back to class, Kent Police are urging drivers to slow down, watch for kids near schools and bus stops, and obey school bus stop signs. Parents are encouraged to review safe walking and crossing habits, while everyone is reminded to avoid distractions like phones when driving, biking, or walking.
   

3. Kent Youth and Family Services names Omar Malik as new Executive Director (ilovekent.net) — Kent Youth and Family Services has hired Omar Malik as its new executive director, starting September 10, to guide programs serving children and families across Kent and South King County. Malik plans to expand behavioral health services and deepen partnerships with Kent School District and community groups to boost preschool access and youth support.
   

4. Kentwood football preps for second year under Quincey Davison (kentreporter.com) — Kentwood High’s football team is gearing up for its second season under head coach Quincey Davison after a strong 7-2 turnaround last year. With versatile standout Chance Savini returning and new left-handed quarterback Calvin Ibale transferring from Kentridge, the Conquerors are grinding through a tough camp and eyeing a big opener against Skyline on September 3.
