1. Kent homicides double from this time last year (komonews.com) — Kent residents are confronting a sharp rise in violence, with 14 homicides recorded so far in 2026, double last year’s pace. Police say the killings, including incidents at the Kent-Des Moines Park & Ride, appear targeted, and the department is devoting major resources to investigations while urging the community to stay engaged and informed.

New options for free preschool in Renton, Federal Way, Kent (federalwaymirror.com) — Low-income families in Kent will soon have more free preschool options as two new ECEAP sites open locally for the 2026–27 school year.
