12th man delivers food to hungry kids

The Seahawks turned up the heat and showed what they could do on the field, and for two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl United Methodist Churches in Washington and Colorado were doing the same off the field.  Over 160 churches, over 80 in each state have been collecting food and donations for local programs.

Lake Washington United Methodist Church helped lead the way in Washington with $1440 and 2912 items that will benefit over 500 hungry children in the Lake Washington School District.

Before this Super Bowl food drive frenzy began, we had heard from Shauna Yusko and her team of volunteers Pantry Packs that donations were low and they would need help to continue to feed kids for the rest of the school year.  So, we were planning a food drive for February.  When we heard the challenge from the churches in the Denver area, we jumped at the chance to harness the positive 12th man energy and start collecting early.

Thank you to all who donated.  Thank you Shauna and all the volunteers at Pantry Packs, and thank you Seahawks for a great season.
