• Police Use Drone to Catch Bobcat 'Burglar' in Washington Home (outdoors.com) — Kirkland residents in the Moss Bay neighborhood recently called 9‑1‑1 about what they thought was a human intruder, only to learn a bobcat had leapt through an open window into their home. Kirkland police used a drone to track the animal's movements, safely isolating it until state wildlife officers sedated and released it near Forbes Creek, back in its natural habitat. 
• Poker Player Persson's Maverick To Close 2 Washington Casinos (cardplayer.com) — Maverick Gaming, headquartered in Kirkland, is closing two Tukwila casinos on Nov. 1 as it works through Chapter 11 bankruptcy, cutting 238 jobs. The company, led by poker player Eric Persson, cites a weaker regional economy, tech layoffs, and high operating costs for its struggles, while continuing to operate other Washington-area cardrooms.
