Uniting a love for the mountains with a challenge to capture the fleeting beauty on location, Currier pays tribute to Glacier with a show of 26 new plein air and studio paintings. The on location oils were completed entirely outdoors. Currier feels the immediacy of plein air painting compels one to use strong deliberate brushwork due to the limited time from the changing light and shadows allowing the freshness of the experience to be maintained.
A visual chapbook, “Alfred Currier: Glacier National Park 101”, is being released to coincide with the show, with a preface by Amy Marquis, Associate Editor for National Parks magazine.
Currier hopes to bring attention to these jewels in our back yard in order to ensure their continued protection for future generations.
Al will be sharing stories from his experiences in the park as well as his
philosophy of life as a artist in an informal talk at the gallery starting at 6:30pm.
He will also be signing and personalizing copies of the new book.
