Kirkland Cancels Outdoor Activities Tuesday

The city of Kirkland made the announcement as air quality continues to worsen around Puget Sound.

KIRKLAND, WA - The air quality is predicted to be extremely bad on Tuesday, rated as "unhealthy" for all groups across Puget Sound. Because of that, Kirkland has canceled all city-sponsored events for the day.

Due to poor air quality caused by smoke from regional wildfires, the City of Kirkland has canceled or postponed all outdoor recreation activities for today, August 21, 2018.

The Peter Kirk Pool is closed for the day. No lifeguards will be on duty at Waverly Beach or Juanita Beach. Houghton Beach is currently closed to swimming due to unsafe water conditions. Indoor recreation programs will continue to run on schedule.

Decisions about City of Kirkland outdoor recreation activities will be made on a daily basis depending on air quality conditions. If outdoor activities are canceled, the City will post information about the closure to the City’s website, Facebook page and Twitter account.
