Despite strong circulation growth, residents and Friends of the Lacey Library are pushing city and county officials to scrutinize finances and reconsider the remodel’s six- to nine-month closure.
   

• Intercity Transit Authority discusses petition aimed at retaining Route 41 (thejoltnews.com) — Upcoming bus network changes that affect West Olympia riders sparked debate at an Intercity Transit Authority meeting, where Lacey’s representative backed moving ahead as planned. Residents petitioned to save Route 41, warning of longer, less safe commutes. Transit leaders argued late changes would strain buses, staff, and finances but promised to monitor impacts and adjust over time.
   

• 14-time convicted felon attempts to escape police by traveling 120 mph in Olympia (mynorthwest.com) — Lacey officers helped Thurston County deputies and Olympia police stop a 14-time convicted felon who allegedly fled at more than 120 mph through north Olympia before trying to hide and being arrested. The suspect, wanted on a domestic violence warrant, now faces new charges for attempting to elude, driving on a suspended license, and more, while local officials question the low bail amount set.
