Lakewood History Museum

On Saturday, July18, guest speaker Tom Rhodes will take you back 57 years and explore Washington State’s vastly overlooked role in the development and launch of the Apollo 11 spacecraft. The three Apollo11 astronauts became the first humans to land on the moon and walk the lunar surface.&nbsp;&nbsp;

During the presentation you will learn the remarkable story of a Ballard High School graduate who helped guide the astronauts to the Moon before dedicating his life to bringing new life into our earthly world.
&nbsp;These amazing stories and their amazing relationship to Washington State are not to be missed.

&nbsp;Lakewood History Museum is located at 6114 Motor Ave SW. Doors open at 1:30 pm.&nbsp; Programs begins at 2 pm.&nbsp; Admission is free with seating first-come and light refreshments will be provided. For more information, call (253) 682-3480

Steilacoom Salmon Bake at Sunnyside Beach

The Steilacoom Historical Museum Association (SHMA) invites you to join us for our 55th Annual “Salmon on the Sound” Bake on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m.
Advance tickets are available online through the SHMA website at (<a href="https://steilacoomhistorical.online/salmon-bake-registration" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://steilacoomhistorical.online/salmon-bake-registration</a> form)for $30 through July 22, 2026. The salmon dinner includes salmon, shrimp, fresh corn on the cob, tossed salad, cornbread, and pie. A hot dog dinner of a hot dog, chips, drink and dessert is also available online and at the event for $10. Salmon Dinner tickets purchased at the event will be $35.
The event will be held at Sunnyside Beach, 1201 Chambers Creek Road, Steilacoom.
Parking is available throughout town, with complimentary shuttle service provided from:
<ul><li>The Town Hall/Tennis Court area</li><li>The Steilacoom Historical School District Office, 511 Chambers Street</li><li>The Community Center, 1030 Roe Street</li></ul>
